Gutenprint on Mac OS X would not be possible without CUPS, the open-source print spooler built-in for Mac OS X starting with version 10.2 (Jaguar). Gutenprint is strictly a printer support package. For multi-function devices, it supports only the printer function. The last release that will work under Mac OS X 10.2.x (Jaguar) is 5.0.2. Installing a Printer in Mac OS X (procedure updated for Mac OS 10.9, also known as Mavericks) Click the Apple icon in the Finder menu and select System Preferences. (The System Preferences window appears). Click the Printers & Scanners icon.
